A Level Philosophy explores some of the biggest questions there are: does God exist? How can we live a good life? How do we know that other people have minds? How do we know anything at all?

Perhaps you are studying Philosophy as part of the Religious Studies A Level – we can help you too! Meet Your Tutor

Dr. Jane Orton has a PhD in Classics and Philosophy, in which she looked at the impact of mathematics on the philosophy of Plato. She also did her first research Masters’ in the development of Classical Greek political philosophy and her second Masters’ involved quite a lot of research into Buddhist philosophy.

Jane designed and taught philosophy courses at the University of Edinburgh when she was completing her PhD, and has university level and A Level exam marking experience. She has tutored students in the main UK exam boards, including AQA, Pearson Edexcel, OCR, WJEC, Eduquas and SQA.

We also offer ad hoc tutorials and exam revision for shorter periods. We offer online home schooling for students who are not attending school, or whose school does not offer the student’s preferred A Level as an option. Home schooling might seem like a big job, but it can be cheaper than sending your child to private school and much more effective than working through standardised courses with little or no personal contact. Home schooling can be a great option for students who are unable to attend mainstream school for any reason and offers flexibility regarding topic choice without losing academic rigour.
